Honorable Mention

Today I went to the opening reception for the Los Gatos Art Associations Annual Show. My piece “Dragonfly” from my “Into Pieces” series was chosen by George Rivera, Executive Director and Chief Art Curator, Triton Art Museum, Santa Clara to be in the show. When I got there I saw that my piece was also given an honorable mention award ribbon in the photography category.
Sometimes I think my artwork can be hard to categorize. Is it photography, mixed media, all of the above or what? I think that can be a disadvantage to me sometimes. I see my work as photography but I can see why some people might think otherwise. That’s why it was quite a nice surprise to see the honorable mention in photography.

The show runs until May 3rd, check it out if you can.

  1. Congratulations! I so understand about the honorable mention in photography – but I think that the more of us that there are who push the boundaries, the more the traditionalists will accept us as photographers.

How’s that Fuji? It looks alot like my Mio that Polaroid discontinued – maybe Fuji will save the day for us Polaroid junkies, too. 😉
