Last year I participated in a really great art & science residency in Quebec. Ayatana Artists’ Research Program is a Canadian, artist run, residency dedicated to encouraging visiting artists to engage in hands on research and adventure. I participated in Nocturne, a program to study wildlife after dark. You can read more about that experience here.
I am thrilled that they have invited me to be a residency expedition leader this year. In June I will be heading back to Quebec to be an expedition leader for Swarm ,a residency all about entomology and insects. I cant wait to meet all the other artists and be immersed in a week long adventure.
I am so fascinated with insects and have loved them for a long time. In addition to having a large collection I have done a lot of research about them and even learned how to pin. I am really looking forward to learning more about them and hearing from different experts. I am especially excited about the fireflies, we don’t have them in California so it’s a real treat to experience them.
