Bugs and Botanicals – The Interconnectedness of Nature

Albrecht-von-Haller.jpg

50 pieces of artwork in 50 days. The work is done, the art is signed and everything is ready for the exhibit opening on August 26th, 2016

This project was for the Sanchez Art Center’s annual 50|50 show. Participating artists were chosen by Brian Gross of Brian Gross Fine Art. We each proposed a theme and were provided with 50 - 6x6 panels to work on. My theme is: Bugs and Botanicals – The Interconnectedness of Nature

The whole process was wonderful, frustrating at times and a great challenge. I had to let a lot of planning and set up that I usually put into a  piece go. The process became more of a meditation; I just created piece after piece without thinking too much about them. Some days the ideas came easily and other days I struggled and had to push myself to get something done.

Each piece is titled after a botanist, naturalist or entomologist. It is my hope that the title might inspire someone to look up the name and learn more about what these scientists contributed to the world.

You can see all 50 pieces here

The artwork is available for presale before it goes on exhibit. Each piece is $120 and there is a 10% discount for two or more pieces. If you would like to purchase a piece before they go on sale at the exhibit please contact me.

If you would like to see the show in its entirety in person, be sure to order tickets in advance to the Preview Fundraiser, August 26, 6 pm – 8 pm, (Last year, these sold out ) The doors open to the public (no ticket necessary) from 8 to 9:30 pm, and all purchases may be taken home that evening.
