I made it! I am now in Portland and getting settled in with life and art. I absolutely love it here and am incredibly inspired. I have created a new studio behind my home and have been working away on lots of new artwork. I have several exhibits and projects coming up.
First up is a trip to Santa Fe, NM to attend the International Encaustic Artists retreat. I am thrilled to be attending this event and giving a talk and presentation - Creating in environmentally safe and sustainable ways. Happening at the same time is the Artisan Materials Expo (meaning lots of art supplies). I am also hoping to check out Meow Wolf, an immersive, interactive experience that transports audiences into fantastic realms of story and exploration.
In October I have two exhibits. The first is in Portland at the Verum Ultimum Art Gallery. I will have one encaustic painting in Chasing Ghosts III: Art that Pierces the Veil through remembrance, legacy, and beyond. I am excited to be in my first exhibit in Portland and cant wait to explore more venues and get my work out here.
Next up Is San Francisco Open Studio at Secession Art and Design. I will be flying back to the Bay Area for a few days and will be at the gallery all day the 27th & 28th. I will have lots of new work in this exhibit. I have been stretching myself and using more color in my pieces (not too much, just enough). If you are in the Bay Area I would love to see you there.
